Small Request for Small Businesses!
Web-Developers should just stop avoiding this topic! This is the most ignored topic when creating a website or getting it created.
Website load time!
Every time I come across a business website the first thing I notice is how much time it takes to load.
Think of it like this, someone is at your office entrance and you are taking too long to let them in (sounds rude ha!)
Now the worst part is when the person trying to visit your website has an average internet connection, the situation just gets worse.
Don’t let this happen!
Here are 4 quick ways to speed up your website in other words reduce your load time.
- Add a Content Delivery Network (CDN)
- Optimize images on your website i.e. if an image is used as 500 x 400 preview don’t upload the source file as a 2000 x 1600.
- Enable compression (Use Gzip, a software application for file compression, to reduce the size of your CSS, HTML, and JavaScript files that are larger than 150 bytes)
- Reduce re-directs – use non-www or www avoid using both and do not have m versions and country versions like the main domain redirects to www domain which further goes to website/language/home.
There are better options like getting a domain for that country.
This also applies to websites that use WordPress!
